Maitland House

The Project: Our client had purchased the former Registry Office on Spa Road, Gloucester. The building is grade II listed and they wished to convert the property into a number of residential units.

The Brief: The existing building was split into three elements, the oldest section, a 1960s extension and the 1980s ceremony hall. As such there were a range of constructions and room types to be reconfigured.

The Solution: Within the most historic part of the building we were able to work with the original wall configurations and were able to reinstate many of the historical features that had been damaged or removed  during the buildings life. Within the 1960s extension we needed to make more structural alterations however in doing so we were able to create a number of two bedroom units. The ceremony hall which was a later addition to the rear of the building was demolished and two new mews properties developed. In total eleven units were created and in addition to the internal works the exterior of the building was repaired and redecorated thus enhancing the appearance of the building within the street scene.
