Back to space for living: rural

Swindon Village

One of our smallest bespoke project to date was also one of our most challenging. Over 50% of the site was water and our client was keen that the site be developed with a very ‘light touch’ and that the dwelling was closely linked to the water. Due to the amount of water on the site and the potential for flooding the scheme was designed as a collection of three ‘Boat House’ type structures sitting on pile foundations above the flood level. The individual elements cantilever over the waters edge with the main living accommodation bridging over the water completely, making it possible to play ‘Pooh sticks’ from the comfort of the living room.
