The site is on the edge of the existing residential settlement and is in an elevated position above the town of Lydney.

Our client wished to provide a high-quality development rooted within the existing Lydney community. The site benefits from far reaching views over the Severn Estuary and consequently the visual impact of the development was a key consideration in our design of the proposed scheme.

The proposal was for low rise development in a suitable Forest of Dean vernacular architectural style, utilising high quality materials and finishes. Working in conjunction with Hunter Page Planning and a team of other consultants, we prepared a scheme for two-hundred dwellings. In addition to the new houses, the scheme included a new community building and retirement apartments, all set within public open space and a retained landscape featuring ponds and swales to assist with the management of surface water drainage.

Planning was granted at appeal and the site was developed out in 50 unit parcels.
