Oriel Villas - Cheltenham
Project type
Residential Development – Office to residential conversion within listed building |
Client
Boo Homes
Scope
Conversion and refurbishment of listed regency villas from office use to 10 luxury apartments
Status
Completed - 2013

The property was being used as office accommodation however in the past it had been in residential use.
During the previous twenty years, whist in office use, a number of planning applications and approvals had been granted for the building however not all of the works had been carried out in accordance with the approvals. As such the refurbishment provided an opportunity to make good much of the damage that had been caused to the building by its conversion to office use.
There were extensive pre-application discussions with the local authorities’ conservation department to ensure resulting scheme was acceptable to them. In addition to the former office accommodation the roof space was also utilised to provide residential accommodation accessed via the reinstatement of a previously blocked up historic staircase.
John Everitt, Director from coombes:everitt architects, commented on the project:
“The change of use of this pair of listed regency villas has enabled the buildings to be refurbished and 10 boutique homes to be provided in the town centre.”
